March is National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month, a crucial time when food banks across the U.S. highlight the importance of providing nutritious food to combat hunger, often aligning with themes of health, equity, and access to fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food. Food banks focus on education and distributing nutrient-rich items, as proper nutrition prevents chronic disease.

Ways to Engage in March:

  • Donate Financially: $1 can provide up to 4 meals at many local food banks, which can leverage funds for fresh produce.

  • Donate Nutritious Food: Focus on whole grains, low-sodium canned goods, protein, and produce.

  • Volunteer: Support local pantries with sorting and distributing food.

  • Raise Awareness: Use #NationalNutritionMonth to highlight food insecurity issues in your community.
